Delves into the intellectual foundation of Siam, that emerged during Thailand’s transition into modernity, exploring topics of historical interpretation, the dynamics of narratives, and the beliefs and knowledge accumulated and passed down to the present.
About guest speaker
Thongchai Winichakul, Emeritus Professor of History at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He wrote two prize-winning books, ‘Siam Mapped’ (1994) and ‘Moments of Silence: The Unforgetting of the October 6, 1976, Massacre in Bangkok’ (2020). His research interests are in the intellectual foundations of modern Siam under colonial conditions.
