ALEX FACE

Alive

21 December 2016–19 February 2017

Alive invites audiences into the world of Alex Face, wherein his iconic disillusioned three-eyed character, is lost in a water lily pond and has sunken into its still water. Alex Face views this surrounding as a state of being, one that is assumed by many living under Thailand’s current political situation.  He says “After all these years, we are now in a state of stillness, it looks peaceful, nothing’s moving but we aren’t going anywhere either…  Everything looks beautiful, with a bunch of beautiful water lilies, stagnant, and we are sinking in that environment”.  Combining Claude Monet’s impressionist lily pond landscapes paintings that he has always loved with the character vital to his growth as graffiti artist.

ALEX FACE

b.1981. Lives in Bangkok, Thailand

A graffiti artist who maneuvers in the public space to provoke thoughts from city dwellers. His street art has grown boundless in public areas of Thailand as much as in other cities around the world. Alex introduced a three-eyed child dressed in a ragged rabbit suit, inspired by his newborn daughter, concerned about the becoming world in which she will live.
